I have some knowledge of Pandit Batavadhani Challapilla Venkata Susiri's poetic composition in Telugu, and consider thern to be of high merit. They indicate an extraordinary command of both Telugu and Sanskrit; and their linguistic agguna, and easy flow are quite striking. His power of and enjoying true poetry is also notewoutham power which m KRLS ducing as well as appreciating T i to make hima very worthy and useful teacher of telugu ta Colleges where that language and its literature are taught. He is both rational and critical, and is in no way an old-fationed Pandit

I am sincerely glad to record my impressions of M. & Ky Venkata Sastruln. I have read some of his pablished works with to less profit than pleasure. This morning he came to see me and I have spent over three houre with hiar, during wbieb ke recited to me a great toany from his large store of verses still in M. 9. form. He is one of three or They markedly display his versatile powers, four of his abilities I have come across these many years. Great as are his prodigious memory ADd the scoutariety of his extempore versitication, which many others have admiringly testified to, weat I specially Talue is his extensir , profound and accurate scholar, ship in San krit and Telugu. Such is his rast and varied learning

and sa studded is his poetry with striking and, sparkling gems of rit and fancy, that if his lot had fallen on olden days, and Macaena, of those days would bave eagerly taken him into his patronage. What is vom open to him and the like of him is only one of the higher panditships in our Colleges and they are hut fem. By his mastery of Sanscrit as a foundation for his Teulgu learning, he will be quite an acquisition in the best of our Colleges. He is, besides, young and vigorous enough (humanly speaking) to put in a service of over twenty years I heartily wish he would have an early chance und a successful one. .

Tirupat.i Venkateswara Kavulu, are twin poets of a high order, well kuown in the Telugu Districts, for their ready, off-hand intelligent aud superior compositions in Telugu. and Sanskrit poetry. Their works are not a few and they display the rare merit of appreciation of what real poetry is. Besides they are Satavadhi- nies, not as generally recogaised by courtesy, by their actually tested exhibitions of their powers, I have usked the Junior Pandit Venkateswaralu to teach an imaginary class in Amuktamalyada and Sringara Naishadamu, two of the great classical works in Telugu. He has satisfied me by giving critical notes to the class or modern lines, bearing on all important points-Grammur, prosody, rhetoric, allusions, &c., .

I have much pleasure to state that the bearer Satavadhanam Venkata Sastrulu Ga of Masulipatam is a well-know Telugu scholar. . His poetical productions are good and his smoothflowing Verses have won my admiration. This combined with his knowledge of Sanskrit makes him perhaps the best ditted to occupy a Telugu pandit's post is first grade colleges.
