At the Sabha held at Gudwal in my presence on the 21st February 1896, two pandits named Brahmasree Cballapilla Ven- kateswara Sastri Garu and Brahmasree Divakarla Tirupati Sastry Garu, showed their skill in performing Satavadhanam. 57 persons were seated in a row. They began one after another to give the poets subjects on which to compose verses, The subjects named by each member was chosen by him then and there. Some of the members asked them to compose Sanscrit verses and others Telugu, The pandits performed their task in the following manner, . Beginning with the first member they gave him fret, cherana of the verse on the subject given by him; then proceeding to the next they gave him the first charana of the verse composed by his subject. and is the same manner they gave the first charanas of the verses to all the other members in the order in which they had been given; after this they gave the members one often another the 2nd charanas of the verses; when this was finished they gave the members in
