నాటకప్రయోజనము విలాసమా, విజ్ఞానమా ? 117
వలయునని నిశ్చయించిరి. పూర్వవాదమునకు చెందిన వారికంటె నీవాదమును సమాదరించుచున్న వారు పాశ్చాత్య దేశములలో విమర్శకులలోను, రచయితలలోనుగూడ చాలమంది గలరు.

ఇట్లే బుద్ధిమంతులనేకులు కావ్యనాటకములకు ప్రీతితోపాటు సదుప దేశమును ప్రధానమని నిశ్చయించియున్నారు——
'ధర్మ్య మర్థ్యం యశస్యంచ సోపదేశం ససంగ్రహమ్,
భవిష్యతశ్చ లోకస్య సర్వకర్మానుదర్శనమ్' అనియు,
‘సర్వశాస్త్రార్థ సంపన్నం సర్వశిల్ప ప్రవర్తకమ్,
లోకోప దేశజననం నాట్యమేత ద్భవిష్యతి' అనియు,
ఉత్తమాధమమధ్యానాం సరాణాం కర
కర్మసంశ్రయమ్,
హితోపదేశజననం నాట్యమేత ద్భవిష్యతి.' అనియు,
‘వేదవిద్యేతిహానానా మర్థానాం పరికల్పనమ్' అనియు,
‘వేదోపవేదై స్సంబద్ధో నాట్య వేదో మహాత్మనా” అనియు
‘శ్రుతిస్మృతి సదాచార పరిశేషార్థ కల్పనమ్' అనియు,
'అబోధానాం విబోధశ్చ' అనియు, 'సర్వోపజీవినా మర్థః' అనియు,
భరతాచార్యులు వేయిసందర్భములలో వేయిసారులు నొక్కినొక్కి యాదే శించుటచే నాటకమున కుపదేశమే ప్రధానమని విశ్వసింపవలయును.
