బొంది యెవరి సొమ్ము పోషింప పలుమారు !
ప్రాణమె' వరి సొమ్ము భక్తి సేయ !
ధనము యెవరి సొమ్ము! ధర్మమే తన సొమ్ము. వి. 54
నార యన' నవచ్చు, నమశివ యనవచ్చు ;
మేలు - వారి నమ్మిమెచ్చ వచ్చు ;
కొంగు - కాసు విడిచి గొబ్బున నీ' రాదు. వి. 55
మేడి - పండు జూడ మేలిమై' యుండును ;
పొట్ట విచ్చి చూడ పురుగులుండు;
బెరుకు వాని మదిని బింకెమీ' లాగురా. వి. 56
ఉసురు లేని తిత్తి యిసుమం' త వూదిన
పంచ - లోహములును భస్మమౌ' ను ;
పెద్దలు' సురుమం' టె పెను మంటలె' గవయా ? వి. 57

54. Whose is the body, that we should continually nourish it ? whose is the soul that we should devout to save it ? whose is our wealth? virtue alone is ours !
55. He may ejaculate Nara ! (Arjuna) or Namasiva ! (a name of the deity) and we may, in seeing him, say, Good ! Admirable ! and laud him; but he is in no hurry to open his purse and bestow a farthing.
56. If you behold the fig (ficus glomerata) it is like pure gold ; if you open its belly and look in, it is all worms. Such is the ostentation of a reserved man.
57. By the groaning of a buffalo hide bellows (in the world)[1] the five metals are calcined : when good men grieve, will not a great flame arise to heaven ?
