ధర్మ - సత్యములను, దప్పక చేయని,
కర్మ - జీవి మేలు గాన లేడు,
నిర్మల - హృదయుండు నీ*[1] రూపముననుండు. వి. 115
ధనము లేమి కులము తక్కువ పడివచ్చు,
ధనము లేమి కీర్తి దలగి పోవు;
ధనము లేమి శుచిని దగ బుట్టని య్యదు,
ధనము లేమి ఘనత దప్పు, వేమ. 116
ధనము - లేమి, సుతులు తప్పుల బెడుదురు,
ధనము లేమి పత్ని దాకనాడు;
ధనము లేమె' వరికి తాళికై యుండదు. వి. 117
చచ్చు వారలె' వరు? చావని వా రేరి?
చచ్చి బ్రతికి యుండు, జనము లె' వరు;
విచ్చలవిడిగా†[2] ను, వివరించి చూడ రా. వి. 118
115. The evil heart that departs from uprightness and truth shall never see any good. He that is pure of heart shall be converted into Thy form.
116. By want of wealth even caste becomes degraded; all fame is blotted out by want of wealth; poverty leads to the loss of purity, and puts an end to respectability.
117. When a man becomes poor, his very sons find fault with him; when he loses his fortune his wife upbraids him; a poor man is thought utterly intolerable.
118. Who are those that die? who are the immortal? who are those who participate both in death and immortality? Judge freely and perceive the truth: the body perishes, but the soul survives.
