పరగ తానొ' సగక పరులు చెప్పిన దై' న,
ని' వ్వజాలక' విధినె' సగు వాడు,
పొట్టు దినెడి లండి బువ్వలు బెట్టునా. వి. 112
అండ దప్పిన నరుడ' తి ధార్మికుని యిల్లు,
జేర వలయు, బ్రతుక జేయున' తడు,
ఆవిభీషణునకున'తి గారవంబున,
భూతలమున రాము రీతి, వేమ. 113
సకల విద్యజూచి, సంతోష పడవచ్చు,
చెయ్యి సాచి, కాసుని' య్యలేడు;
చెలగి యొరులకై' తె చెప్ప వచ్చును గాని,
తాను జేయ లేడు, ధరను, వేమ. 114
112. He will bestow nothing on others, though advised to do so ; he cannot give, and is inexorable. will the covetous wretch, who himself lives on bran, give food to others?
113. When a ruined destitute enters the house of a benevolent man, he will be relieved and made to live: such was the conduct of Rama to Vibhishana.* [1]
114. It is easy to feel pleasure in the conversation of the learned; but it is more hard to extend the hand and give a farthing: he can easily advise others to be liberal, but cannot become so himself,
