SANSCRIT PROVERBS.
अ
1. अंगारश्शतधौतॅन मलिनत्वं न मुंचति॥
- అంగారశ్శతధౌతేన మలినత్వం న ముంచతి॥
- The blackness cannot be removed from charcoal by a hundred washings.
- स्वभावॉ यादृशॉ यस्य न जहाति कदाचन |
- अंगाराश्शतधातॅन मलिनत्वं न मुंचति || इतिचाणक्यधृतं ||
- స్వభావో యాదృశో యస్య న జహాతి కదాచన |
- అంగారశ్శతధాతేన మలినత్వం న ముంచతి || ఇతిచాణక్యధృతం ||
- Whatever one’s nature be, it never changes ; the blackness is not removed from charcoal by a hundred washings. (Kavitâratnâkara 161).
- "Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots ?" Jeremiah xiii. 23.
2. अंततॉश्मापि जीर्यति ||
- అంతతోశ్మాపి జీర్యతి ||
- The stone is worn away at last.
3. अंतस्तापॉ बहिश्शीतं ||
- అంతస్తాపో బహిశ్శీతం ||
- Inward heat, outward coolness.
