1516. పెట్టి పొయ్యనమ్మ కొట్టి పొమ్మన్నదట.

She that gave neither food nor drink, beat [me] and said "be off"
Said by a beggar.

1517. పెట్టు చుట్టము, పొగుడు భాగ్యము.

Entertainments [bring] relations, flattery [brings] fortune.

While the pot boils friendship blooms. (German)[1]

1518. పెట్టు పోతలు శాశ్వతములా.

Will the meat and drink last for ever?
Can one expect to live always on the bounty of others ?

1519. పెద బావగారు ఆడంగులతో సమము.

The elder brother-in-law is like a woman.
Said of a stupid clumsy person.

1520. పెదిమకు మించిన పల్లు, ప్రమితకు మించిన వత్తి.

A tooth projecting beyond the lip, a wick too big for the oil dish.
Said of an insolent fellow.
He is on the high ropes

1521. పెదిమ దాటితే, పెన్న దాటుతున్నది.

If it passes your lips it will go over the Penna river.

A secret revealed spreads quickly abroad.
Three may keep counsel if two be away.
Two eyes, two ears, only one mouth. (German)[2]
