This template formats the character name at the beginning of a passage in a play or drama.

The name will be italicized and followed by a period.

1: Name of the character speaking the line.
2: Optional. Establishes the width of space in which the Name will appear. Default width is 5em.
3: Optional. Indent width at the head of the line, preceeding the space allocated by 2. Default is 1em of indentation.
