co8ε స్వీయ చ రి త్ర ము భాషాంతరీకరింప ననుజ్ఞయివ్మని నన్ను కోరిరి. శ్రీ కాకుళమునందుండిన యమెరికా కై స్తవమతాచార్యులైన రివరెండు హచ్చిన్సను గారు "నాయను మతిపైని దీనినింగ్లీషచేసి చెన్నపురి క్రైస్తవ కళాశాలాపత్రికయందు మొదట 1886_వ సంవత్సరమున భాగములుగా ప్రకటించి, తరువాత 1887_వ సం వత్సరమునందు అదృష్ట <\sis' (Fortune's Wheel) ఆను పేరితో పు స్థక రూపమున చిత్ర పటములతో లండను నగరమునందు ప్రకటించిరి. దీనికి జనరల్ మెక్డౌనల్డు దొర-గా రపోద్ఘాతమును వ్రాసిరి. దీనిని హిందూ దేశ ములాశని వార్తాపత్రికలు మాత్రమేకాక యింగ్ల ండులాశని పత్రికలు సహితవు శ్లాఘించెను. దీనిని దొమ్లగూడెములో నున్న သေဝီ షు క్రైస్తవ మతౌ చార్యులు 8వ రెండు కెయిను దోరగారుకూడ విశేషభౌగమింగ్లీషునకు భాషాంత రీకరించిరిగాని యింతలా. మొదటి భాషాంతరము ప్రచురింపఁబడ నారంభించి నందున ముగింపక విడిచిపెట్టిరి. 1887-వ సంవత్సరము సెప్టెంబరు 30_వ తేదిని ప్రకటింపఁబడిన లండన్ టైమ్సు (London Times) పత్రిక యీ “ Fortune's Wheel” (Elliot Stock) is an almost unique example of a Hindu novel. The author, Pandit K. Viresalingam, is described by the translator as an ardent reformer, who having had some degree of English education, has adopted the form of a fictitious story to convey to his readers a knowledge of the inner life and thought of the Hindu race. This knowledge is to be very difficult to be obtained by Europeans, owing to the seclusion which caste entails in India. The story itself is simple and from an European point of view, of no great interest but the pictures of Hindu domestic life, of religious ideas, modes of worship and superstitions, and the condition of women, with their denial of all rights of choice in marriage, are so well drawn and illustrated that the book will have a charm
