ఆంధ్రభక్తులలో త్యాగయ్యది అగ్రతాంబూలం. వాగ్గేయకారాగ్రణి, వ్రాసిన ఛందస్సులో వ్రాయకుండా రెండువేల కృతులకు పైగా రచన చేశాడు. భక్తిరస ప్రధానమైన ఈతని కృతులకు సారస్వతగౌరవం లేకపోవుట శోచనీయము. అసలు కవిగా కూడా లెక్కలోకి రాడంటారు మనవాళ్ళు. త్యాగయ్య కవి ఐనదీ, కానిదీ ఈ క్రింది భాషాంతరీకరణాలు పరిశీలిస్తే తెలుస్తుంది
“O the breath of my life!
The fruit of my choice!
Though king of kings!
O, the light of my vision!
My rose's perfume!
The flowers of my worship!
I bow to thee.
Tell me, lord, this secret.
Does the babe go to the mother.
or the mother fondly runs to the crying babe?
Does the cow follow licking her tender calf?
Does the crop follow the cloud
Or the cloud descends to tend the crop?
Does the sweet heart follow the lover
Or the lover follows closely in her foot-steps?
Tell me the secret, Lord,
And show me thy face."
