అని మోనియరు విలియమ్సుదొరవారు వ్రాసినట్లుగాఁ బాశ్చాత్యుల యాచారముల నవలంబించినదీ నవమతము.
బ్రాహ్మూ వివాహశాసనము.
ఈయభినవమతస్థులు ఇంగ్లీషు దొరతనమువారిని బ్రార్థించి యొక వివాహ శాసనమును బుట్టించుకొనిరి. ఈశాసనము 1872 క్రీస్తుశకసంవత్సరమున మార్చి 22 తేదీని నిర్మాణము చేయఁబడినది. ఇప్పటి బ్రాహ్మూలు తామును హిందువులమేయని చెప్పుకొనఁ బ్రయత్నించుచుండినను, ఈవివాహశాసనము వీరు హిందువులుకారని రూఢిచేయు చున్నది. ఏమన, నీశాసనమిట్లు ప్రారంభింపఁబడియున్నది.
"Whereas it is expedient to provide a form of marriage for persons who do not profess the Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Mahammadan, Parse, Bhudhist, Sikh, or Jain religion, and to legalize certain marriage the validity of which is doubtful, it is here by enacted" &c.
