తనదు నృపతి తోడ తన యాయుధము తోడ,
నగ్ని తోడ, పరుల యాలి తోడ,
హాస్యమా' డుటె'ల్ల, ప్రాణాంతమౌ సుమ్ము. వి. 35
మంచి రుచుల గోరు' మంచి స్త్రీలను గోరు,
మనుజుడెంత చెడ్డ మనసు జూడ;
యించుకంత యైన నేల'ని విడువడు. వి. 36
తరుణి పొగసుఁ గన్న తనయుల గన్నను,
మరుని కళల మించి మనము బారు;
పాప - జాతి మనము బట్టంగ రాద యా! వి. 37
35. If you sport with your prince, with weapons, with fire, or with a strange woman ; this will lead to destruction ǃ *[1]
36. He desires pleasant food, and he longs for fair women ǃ behold the evil heart of man ! He †[2] cannot for an instant relinquish these temptations and reflect that they are unprofitable.
37. Gazing on the beauty of his wife, and on his sons, the affections ‡[3] of love increases and his heart runs on them. How difficult is it to curb the sinful mind !
