చెవులు గోరును మంచి జిలిబిలి పాటల,
తియ్యని మాటల తెరగు వినగ
చర్మంబు గోరును సరవి తోడుత శీత
మృదుల సంస్పర్శ సంపదలనె పుడు
కన్నులు గోరును కమనీయ వర్ణంబు
లై' నట్టి రూపంబుల నువు తోడ
నాలుక గోరును, నయము తోడుత, తీపి,
యొగరు, కారమ్ము, చేదు'ప్పు, పులుసు,
ముక్కు గోరును సద్గంధములను జెలఁగి,
చెవులు చర్మంబు కన్నులు, జిహ్వ ముక్కు,
నిన్నియును గూడినటువంటి యిల్లు రోసి,
తన్ను గనుగొని సుఖియింప దగును వేమ. 200

200. The ears delight in gentle harmonious songs and sweet words well ordered: the skin in like manner is gratified by coolness, and soft touches: the eyes desire forms adorned with lovely hues and delicately proportioned: the tongue naturally is pleased with tastes astringent, pungent, bitter, salt, and acid: and the nose takes pleasure in grateful scents. But let us abhor the corporeal mansion that renders us subject to the five feelings perceived by the ears, skin, eyes, tongue, and nose. See that thou art a being distinct from these earthly ties: and thus shalt thou be happy, O Vema !
