కాశి నీళ్లు మోసి, కాళ్లు మొగము వాచి,
యెందు సుఖము లేక నెండి యెండి,
చచ్చి, వెనుక ముక్తి, సాధింప గలర' కో? వి. 266
దేశ దేశములను, గాసిలి, తిరుగంగ
నా'త్మ యందు ధ్యానమంటుకొనునె?
కాసులకును దిరుగ, కలుగునా మోక్షంబు? వి. 267
కచ్చమీది యాస, కనకంబు పై యాస
లేని వాడు, పుడమి లేని వాడు;
గలిగెనే' ని, యతడు గానంగ రాడయా. వి. 268
వలపు దీరెనే'ని, వనజాక్షి యధరంబు
ములక - పంటి గిజరు ముష్టి రసము,
చింత లేని వేళ, జీవ - సమానమో*[1] వి. 269
266. Though you bear about the sacred water of Benares and your feet and faces swell with the heat of travel, devoid of repose; how shall you after death attain heaven by such means ǃ †[2]
267. Though you roam from land to land, how can this fix religion in your heart? how can travelling about for the sake of alms gain pa heaven?
268. He who has no desire of women or of riches, is no where to be found in the earth: should there be such a one, his virtue would yet be unknown to men.
269. When love is over, the cherry lip of the rosy girl is tasteless as the pulp of the night-shade berry, or the juice of the poison nut. When you do not care for it, it is as disgusting as the milk of the mango leaf.
