గద్దె. గణము, నిద్ర - కలలు, కోరి కెలును,
ముదమొ' సంగు శకునములును జెలగు,
ప్రశ్నలు పది వేలు, పరికించి చూడంగ'
నవును కాకపోవున [వని] వేమ. 9
లేడు లేడ నినను లేడు లేనే లేడు,
కాడు కాడ' టన్న, కానె కాడు;
తోడు తోడ' నినను, తోడనే తోడౌ ను. వి. 10
శివుని మీద మనసు స్థిరముగానుంచిన,
నౌ' ను మోక్షమ' రయనౌ' నదౌ' ను,
శివుని మీద మనసు చీమంత తప్పిన,
కాదు, కాదు, ముక్తి కాదు, వేమ. 11
9. Fortune-telling, possession by a demon, dreams of sleep, idle wishes, and pleasing auguries, with divinations of all sorts, * [1] turn out true or false, as, it may happen, who can rely on them?
10. If thou say of the divinity that he exists not, he is no more accessible; if thou say he is not, then with regard to thee he is of no avail; if thou call him thy helper, he will surely aid thee. † [2]
11. If thou stay thy mind firmly on the deity, beatitude shall be thine, shall be thine ǃ if thy heart swerve-even in the least ‡ [3] from him, never shall heaven be thy lot.
