At a literary entertainment given in the Nellore Hindu High School on the 25th January 1894 by the sanstrit pandits Brahmasree Challapilia Venkata Sastri Garu and Brahmasree Di- vakarla Tirupati Sastri Garu, the pandits exhibited very success- fully the extra-ordinary feats of memory in performing the Ashtavadhanm and the extra-ordinary talents at the speedy com. position of any story into beautiful sanscrit verses. They have also composed verses in different subjects in Telugu and Sanscrit in very difficult metres chosen by the member. The tact and the command of the language with which the pandits managed to compose verses in Sanscrit, leaving out the letter prohibited by the member in charge of Nishedhakshari at every step at & very critical stage, is only wonderful. They have also, to the highest satisfaction of the audience repeated the words in order and without fail given Vyestakubary, tbough the words are of several languages and of difficult pronunciation. They have successfully managed the other parts and the Ashtavadhanam, vit the count of the beats of the bell, the chess, the discussion in sapserit Grammar, the wordly dis. course and the imparting of instruction to a pupil reading sanscrit, The undersigned are glad to bear testimony to all the above.
