శ్లో! అభ్యస్తా భవతా సితానసకలా గీర్వాణభాషా తతశ్ళా
బ్దం శాస్త్ర మధాన్య దేతదిత రై రాలంబితుంశక్యతే
శాంతి ర్హూహణక లార్జనంకిల పరశ్రేయస్సహత్వం కధంలబ్ధం
కృష్ణసుధీమణే నఖలు తన్నామ్నః ఫలం శ్రీహరేః .2

and sa studded is his poetry with striking and, sparkling gems of rit and fancy, that if his lot had fallen on olden days, and Macaena, of those days would bave eagerly taken him into his patronage. What is vom open to him and the like of him is only one of the higher panditships in our Colleges and they are hut fem. By his mastery of Sanscrit as a foundation for his Teulgu learning, he will be quite an acquisition in the best of our Colleges. He is, besides, young and vigorous enough (humanly speaking) to put in a service of over twenty years I heartily wish he would have an early chance und a successful one. .

Tirupat.i Venkateswara Kavulu, are twin poets of a high order, well kuown in the Telugu Districts, for their ready, off-hand intelligent aud superior compositions in Telugu. and Sanskrit poetry. Their works are not a few and they display the rare merit of appreciation of what real poetry is. Besides they are Satavadhi- nies, not as generally recogaised by courtesy, by their actually tested exhibitions of their powers, I have usked the Junior Pandit Venkateswaralu to teach an imaginary class in Amuktamalyada and Sringara Naishadamu, two of the great classical works in Telugu. He has satisfied me by giving critical notes to the class or modern lines, bearing on all important points-Grammur, prosody, rhetoric, allusions, &c.,
