2036. వేస్తివిరా కన్నము అంటే, చేస్తివే కాపరము అన్నట్టు.

2037. వైదికుని చేతి విడెము.
- Betel nut in the hand of a clerical Brahman.
2038. వైద్యము నేరనివాడూ, వానకు తడియనివాడూ లేడు.
- There is not a man who knows not medicine, nor one who has not been wet by rain
- Every man is a fool or a physician at forty.
2039. వైరికిగాని వడ్లు మెదగవు.
- The rice will not be pounded except by the enemy.
- i.e. the rice-pounder.
- Severe measures are required for the stubborn.
2040. వ్యాసప్రోక్తమా, పరాశరప్రోక్తమా.
- Is it the dictum of Vyâsa or Parâśara?
- Parâśara was the father of the celebrated saint Vyâsa.
- Said by one disputing the authority of another.
2041. వ్రతము చెడ్డా, సుఖము దక్కవలెను.
- If the vow be broken, some enjoyment must be obtained.
- There must be some inducement to transgress the bounds of virtue.
