1872. రాయడి తలది, చాకలి మొలది.

Round the lord’s head, round the washerman’s waist.
i. e. the lord’s head cloth is used by the washerman for a lower garment.

1873. రాయి గుద్దనేల, చెయ్యి నొవ్వనేల.

Why thump a stone? Why should your hand he pained?
Why bring trouble on your own head?

1874. రాళ్లచేనికి గుంటక తోలినట్టు.

Like harrowing a field of stones.
A foolish exploit.

1875. రాష్ట్రం దాగినా, రంకు దాగదు.

Although the country be hid, adultery cannot be concealed.
i. e. it were easier to conceal the whole realm.

1876. రూక లేని వాడు పోక చెయ్య లేడు.

A man without money is not worth an areca nut.
A man without money is a bow without an arrow.
Who has not, is not. (Italian.)[1]

1877. రెక్కలు విరిగిన పక్షివలె వున్నాడు.

Like a bird with broken wings.
Utterly helpless.
