TELUGU PROVERBS.
1148. దశ దానాలకూ తోటకూర కట్ట.
- For the ten gifts, [I give you] a bundle of greens.

- The Dasa Danalu ( ten gifts to Brahmans) are as follows :—
- గోభూతిలహిరణ్యాజ్యవాసోధాన్యగుడానిచ|
- రౌప్యంలవణమిత్యేతేదశదానాఃప్రకీర్తితాః||
- A cow; land; sesamum seed; gold; ghee; cloth; grain; molasses; silver; and salt.
- Cheating the Brahmans.
1149. దాగ పోయిన చోట దయ్యాలు పట్టుకొన్నట్టు.
- The devils caught him in the place he went to hide in.
- One ill calls another. (Italian.)[1]
1150. దానము అయితే యివ్వలేను, దండగ అయితే పెట్టగలను.
- As for charity, I can’t give; as for fines, I can pay.
- Said by a quarrelsome ruffan.
1151. దారిని పొయ్యే వ్యాజ్యము కొని తెచ్చుకొన్నట్టు.
- Buying and bringing a suit which was going along the road.
- Buying the right to carry on a heavy law suit from a stranger.

1152. దాసరి తప్పు దండముతో సరి.
- The crime of a Dasari is excused with an apology.

1153. దాసరి పాటకు ముష్టి ముజరా.
- For the song of a Dasari an aims is the payment.
- All that his singing is worth.
- Small payment for bad work.
